Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private adoptions at parties as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by a court since the year she assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the needing to litigate or court involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who would prefer to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Subsequently, in 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work were instrumental in helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at hands their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice transcended her legal career as she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to increase awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law including divorce, custody, child support and guardianships as well in estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the commitment to provide a personalized approach for every client's need.
