Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family issues. She concentrates the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, property distribution in marital relationships child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions as well as child welfare concerns. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills and probate and estate administration as well as commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases and also court-appointed mediations for people who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal research and scholarship.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at care of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond the legal realm and she was active as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state area.
In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law, including custody, divorce and child maintenance, as well as guardianships and financial and estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the intention of providing a customized approach to each client's need.
