Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, the distribution of marital property, child custody battles, child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues, step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as issues involving children's welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills, probate, and estate administration, along with commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediations for people who want to avoid the court process and litigation.
After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This was a sign of her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. The primary role she played at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of abuse or neglect at the by their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice went beyond her legal practice as she actively served as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tristate area.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law - divorce custody, child support and guardianships - as well as estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies - and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the intention of providing a customized approach to each client's needs.
