THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family law. She focuses a majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes, property distribution in marital relationships and child custody battles. child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions and child welfare concerns. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration, along with commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes and also court-appointed mediations for people who want to avoid court proceedings and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and research in the field of law.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her main focus at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered abuse or neglect at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice went beyond her legal profession when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law - divorce child support, custody, and guardianships, as well as estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the aim of providing a customized approach to each client's need.
